The Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship released Dear Dreamer, a free digital platform for younger students. It uses generative AI trained on MIT's disciplined entrepreneurship framework to provide personalized feedback and interactive exercises, adapting a college-level curriculum for use in middle and high schools.

Adapting university frameworks for younger learners

The Dear Dreamer platform translates the 24-step disciplined entrepreneurship framework, originally developed for university students and professionals, into a format suitable for younger audiences. The system utilizes generative AI to guide users through the process of developing a venture, offering educational videos and interactive tasks designed for a self-paced environment.

The AI component is based on Jetpack, a tool trained specifically on MIT’s entrepreneurial methodology. This allows the software to act as a digital mentor, providing tailored responses to the specific ideas submitted by students. The initiative aims to reach 50,000 young users by the year 2030.

Access and platform availability

The tool is currently available as a free resource for all students in middle and high school. Development was funded by a gift from the Frank and Eileen Foundation to address a perceived lack of entrepreneurship guidance in secondary education.

While the framework has shown high survival rates for MIT-based startups, the source does not provide data on the effectiveness of the AI-mediated version for younger students. The platform focuses on accessibility and training rather than guaranteed commercial outcomes for its users.
